Black Midi, Knee Deep 2018
Nestled in a ‘secret’ location in an exotic end of Cornwall (though we’re reassured it’s only a twenty-minute drive from Plymouth station), Knee Deep is quickly becoming a gem of the small festival circuit, regularly attracting a diverse host of the freshest indie and alternative acts to the South-West. Last year boasted sets from the likes of Black Midi, Easy Life and Sports Team, who have all gone on to big things in 2019, with some of today’s alt-treasures – Kate Tempest and Loyle Carner among them – having also graced these stages in yesteryears.
The names announced for this this year’s line-up denote a festival that’s going from strength-to-strength in its 8th year. Globe-trotting Irish punk-poets Fontaines D.C. join the afrobeat-infused London jazz of Nubya Garcia and the fizzing psyche-pop of Flamingods to head this year’s eclectic bill, which also features the notable company of Squid, Sorry, Awesome Tapes from Africa, Egyptian Blue, Gently Tender, Pet Shimmers, Grand Pax, Shygirl and Porridge Radio, among others.
Not just limited to the music, Knee Deep offers a programme of 'Creative workshops, performance art, spoken word, interactive installations and forward-thinking talks' as a quiet accompaniment to the glorious noise.
Knee Deep takes place this weekend, on 30th and 31st August. Grab 'final bird' tickets here.
